How sad....

I have not blogged in two months because of school. Thats just sad. Anyways.... here are some things ive been knitting. The navy and gold scarf is for my dad. He picked out the colors from knitpicks.com. The yarn is Andean Silk in navy and yarrow. I knit it in a broken rib:
row 1-> p1,k1 *p1,k3* p1,k1
row 2-> *p1,k3*
row 3-> *k1,p3*
row 4-> k1,p1 *k3,p1*k1,p1
I did 8 reps of this before switching to a differnet color. I looks great on both sides.
Then I made the red and cream mittens. They are a pattern from Folk Mittens , Lopi Mittens. They are patterned after a cardigan from Iceland. I made them on too little needles so they came out for small hands. Then i made them for normal hands. The first pair is going to Sammy and the second to Jamie.
The stair-type-thingy is my new yarn storing trunk. Sean made it for me. It serves many purposes. I can now get on and off my bed, I can store yarn, and it is Aimee's perch, where she sits and watches TV.
I also made a baby blanket which took FOREVER to knit, but i forgot to take a picture of it before i gave it away. Also i made fingerless gloves that have a mitten flap to fold over, for Sean. I will get a pic of thoes when i remember to. Now I need to study for a test and work on a presentation. I will try to post more as my christmas present pile grows.

Here is the baby poncho that i finally finished. My mom will be happy she can give it to her friend who had the baby a while ago. Also my Christmas stocking! I'm very excited about this cause it has beads knitted into it and I've never done that before. but I'm not really sure how to put my name on it...

and so school begins...

I have not had very much time to knit since i have 6 classes and tons of work for each. However I did manage to finish the orange baby alpacha sweater although I don't like the bottons I need to figure out how to put them on better. I also need to take a pick with it on me, it just doesn't look the same on the floor. The shawl is gradually growing. I don't really need it done at a specific time cause its not like I have anything to wear the dress to. But it would be nice if I did have somewhere.

HARRY POTTER BABY!

Harry Potter Rocks! I feel the need to state that frequently! So i need to start preparing myself for the 4th movie The Goblet of Fire, which will be out in November!!!!! I will need to find time in between all the books I have to read for class to reread the 4th book. Yes the text color change is in honor of all the Hogwarts houses. So instead of packing for school which i am leaving for in T minus 3 hours I would rather blog about Harry Potter. Yup, Sean may kill me when he gets here to help move me! So I'll be in Brockport tomorrow (Friday the 26th) then I'll have nothing to do cause no one else is there yet. My Megan doesn't arrive until sunday. And then I wont' be there cause of the wedding. It will be nice to set up my stuff without the both of us tripping over each other. I guess I'll just have to knit saturday. Poor me! Maybe I'll finish the shawl now that I have the yarn for it. Well I really should finish all the jazz I have to do here. I'll update my knitting pics when I finish that shawl (fingers crossed).

Poncho!

So when I ran out of yarn for my lace shawl this past weekend it did not stop me. This poncho is from VK holiday 2004. The front has the cable ,the back has cute increases but it is hard to see in this pic, sorry. It is made with chunky yarn on size 15 circulars and knits up very quickly. I started it on friday night and finished it sunday night. And it is so warm. I wore it last night at a bbq at Dan's house when it started to get cooler out. Okay I need to stop blogging and start packing I move tomorrow back to the 'Port.

Ooo heaven is a place on earth

Yes Jen I miss you.

Here is how far i got my lace shawl done this past week. I ran out of the purple yarn and had to buy another ball yesterday. Of course while in the yarn store I had to buy something else. I bought yarn for an awesome christmas stocking that has beads and everything! It will be my christmas stocking of course. It is and off white and deep cranberry. Very exciting! I have never beaded before. It will be a project to take to school.

Scandinavian Mittens

These are my Christmas present mittens. If you are lucky enough to be someone I like you may get a pair or maybe you already have!

These two pairs were in the Scandinavian Festival this year in Jamestown. On the left are Norwegian design mittens. They are made with the traditional Norwegian star. On the right are Swedish mitten from Halland a heavily forested area of Sweden. The mittens are patterned after the jackets that lumberjacks wore. Both of these patterns came from Folk Knits the book that inspired me to learn to knit. While at the Scandinavian Festival, Sean decided he needed to know more about his Danish heritage so I will be knitting Danish mittens soon.

Lace Shawl

This is my latest project. My first lace shawl ever! So I started it Sunday (8/14) and it needs to be finished by Sunday (8/28). Hmmm plus moving into my dorm, what are the chances I'll be able to finish it on time? I'll post in a few days with progress pics. Hopefully I'll get a lot done tomorrow at SnB. How sad it will be the last time I see Jen before she moves :-(

It is being made with Kiddy Print(MC) and will have a white CC. I bought the yarn from Elmwood Yarn Shop on Hertel in Buffalo. The pattern is from the newest VK (fall 05) pattern number 18. It seems really hard so I think I'll be asking Gale at SnB for help understanding the directions. I chose this color because I want to wear it with my awesome strapless black dress that I accent with light liliac shoes and a ribbon round the waist.

Chautauqua County Fair

These are all the projects I entered in the Chautauqua County fair this year. The fair was the week of July 24th, 2005. I took first place with the poncho, the top and the scarf. I took second with the mittens and hat. The Green poncho is made with homespun in key lime green. The pattern is the Martha Steward poncho. The top is a pattern from knit spring/summer 05 knit with cotton ease. The scarf is one of my favorite items I've made. It is a Griffindore scarf made with wool ease. I finished it last year at college. The hat is the kittyville hat from the first stitch and bitch book. The mittens have a cable rib that is similar to a pair in vintage knits. Both the mittens and the hat are knit with wool ease in frost.

first day

Ok so i needed a place to post all my knitting cause well everyone else does. Plus how are Jenn and I sopposed to keep up with each others projects when we are at college! Ok i am gonna hit post and see how this baby works!
